What do you guys think would improve my power and trottle response the most? What is the most often used big bore kits? I've heard of powroll and wisesco. What do you guys think would help the most?

I see santa brought you your lift kit...

I think gordon did that to his 300, have you dicided yet on the high performance kit? you might want to think about improving the intake and exhaust BEFORE doing major motor mods...

just a thought

thats all I had to say... how much more room did you gain with it?

Brad

my 95 honda 300 4x4 had a big bore kit from 4-stroke tech it was resleved 10 mm. over makeing it a 354.that cost around 500 dollars,it had a lot more low end but no more top end cause i used the stock cam.the cam and springs were $150.00 more.i paid $5300.00 + $500 and if i got the cam and springs it would have cost me $5950,my new artic cat 500 cost $6032 with a winch out the door and a 354 will never do what a 500 will do so consider the cost before you do major engine work.

JMHO-

Do not get the "power kit"......I repeat, Do not get the power kit. I can see very little to no change with the addition of the kit to my 300. If you want a kit I'll sell you mine and then invest the $ in to a Powroll big bore kit. Let me know..

Shane,
If I got a kit I would get the powroll, Is it really going to make 300-500 dollars difference though? I have heard bad things about the highlifter big bore kits.
Brad,

It actually improved the space between the top of my tires and the fenders by about 2 inches. It really improves the look, and since it made the shocks higher, it served the purpose of buyign a longer shock. My friend said it looks like his uncles grizzly from the side and rides the same too, just not quite the roar!

Let's figure a bit:
1.) Supertrapp muffler $189.99
2.) K&N Filter $ 39.99
3.) Outerwears $ 10.99
4.) Dynojet Kit $ 60.00 (approx.)
TOTAL $300.97

I wish I had spent the $300.00 on a big bore kit from Powroll. Gordon swears by his kit. He said that the 300 will stay with his 450 until he hits fourth gear. Approaching top end, the 450 begins to pull away (big deal). He is also using a stock muffler, stock air filter, stock air intake, and stock carb settings.

If it really will be worth the $$$ will have to be determined by you. I took the easy road and learned the hard way. USUALLY, you get what you pay for.

Ok, I thought when you said power kit that you meant the piston cam package from highlifter, not the high performance kit. The kit didnt help at all? I was thinking about just buying the exhaust pipe, IDS 2 (I think) You think it would be worth 225 for it? You really dislike the kit? How much did it cost gordon for his powroll kit? I made a post under the honda forums, but he hasnt replied yet, what is his e-mail address? Let me know soon.

glbanks@ro.com

I think this is his new addy. I havent added the piston/cam package. I have been told that the cam is just about the same cam that came in the '88 TRX 300. It pushes the power curve towards the mid-range instead of the low end.

The IDS2 is the new design of the IDS muffler. It has a 2" opening and now spout sticking out. If you don't HAVE to have the IDS2, Rocky Mountain has the IDS for 189.99 with the head pipe.

I wouldn't say that I dislike the kit, but that it didn't live up to the standards that the Highlifter team lead me to believe. If some one wants the kit, I'll sell it. If no one wants it, then I'll just keep on using it. I just wish that I'd spent the $$ on a big bore kit.

Rember the motto:

THERE'S NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT

Ok, so does anyone know the price of the powroll big bore kit? Shane Jeff at highlifter told me that the exhaust pipe alone will give a 15% increase in power alone. Is that bull$h!T? I really dont want to waste 200 dollars on something that will do nothing. If thats the case then I'll go ahead and buy the locker for it.

Let me look around, I used to have a price sheet for Powroll.

I haven't been able to tell a marked diffrence for the better with the muffler. If I put all 12 discs into the unit, I have no low end torque. I had my original 24 and 25 inch (narrow all the way around) vampire combo. on the quad and couldn't spin them in the mud at the Bonnet Carre' Spillway. This was with all 12 discs. I am now using four discs, which is about the same as the stock muffler.

I wouldn't say that Jeff is treating you like a mushroom, but in my personal experience I was/am not impressed with the system.

I would suggest getting the locker before you get the kit. First gear on our quads is pretty much capable of handeling any situiation. The only reason that I'm looking for the low end torque is to be able to run some of our holes in second gear with a little more speed.

Try the address that I posted above and try to get ahold of Gordon. Also, try Steve West : wests@hiwaay.net

Steve has a 300 that he put the kit on also. He said that he had an improvement in midrange, but not in low.

Keep in touch.
