Can the clutch drum on a 1999 Grizzly 600 4x4 be milled if it has been scored?
I am changing out the centrifugal clutch on a 1999 Yamaha Grizzly 600 4x4 and the clutch drum that was pulled out had some pretty bad scoring but MAY be salvageable. So what I am wondering what would the thickness be that would be salvageable? I know other than the drum the rest of it will be all replaced with new parts. I have priced a new drum and they run around 300ish new vs. having one milled for 25-30 bucks. Or there is the alternative in just buying a complete used system with light scoring? recommendations? Sorry I do not have any pics at the moment I can put up, will try to later. Any input is great.

I didn't have very much luck on the little Ktm 50 autos when they tore up centrifugal clutches. Usually the drums were really scored and bluish color from the heat. But part of the problem was these little things didn't hold much oil,oil had to be changed after every race or 10 hrs max,plus could scream at 10,000 rpms or more. You can try to have it milled,but I'm thinking it's like ss brake rotors,hard to save one if really scored. All drums will have a little scoring marks,but if excessive maybe the machine shop can help,but have to figure too that the centrifugal shoes only open so much to grab the drum.
