Okay, thanks I'll take a look at that when I get home.
do you think it could be a bad cam? Ive read a cam going out can cause bogging out at half or WOT..

Just pull the valve cover and inspect the exhaust lobe for any wear as many were. The 2002 400 used the same non HO cam (#3086212) that the 425 Magnum and 1997-2000 Sportsman 500s used.Quite a few of these cams failed, but many are still putting around. When one is really ground down they will usually idle, but will backfire through the carb and exhaust. If your exhaust lobe measures the same as the intake lobes, valves are set at .006 intake and exhaust, then I still think you're down to a carb problem.P.S. If someone did add a digital spedo, then you really do have a Frankenwheeler..

So I finally got around to playing with the jets. First I left the 170 jet in, and switched the needle jet from the aftermarket on 4th clip down, to the OEM needle jet on 3rd clip down. It didn't fall on its face quite as bad, but sputtered in the low end and then took off decent after that. I had it pinned down a dirt road for a ways next to my buddy on his sportsman 800 and he said we were doing about 51. There was however a loud backfire after keeping it WOT for a bit. I still wanted to get rid of the sputtering, so I just pulled the carb back out, and put in the "165" jet. I let it warm up for about 5 minutes to fill the bowl, and it seems to go down the road fine WOT and no sputter or bogging, so im going to rule out the cam, although I haven't checked it.

Sounds like you have the carb back pretty close to the stock settings by using the oem needle and 165 main jet. Sometimes jet kits can do more harm than good if you're not careful.Hope the frankenstein wheeler holds up good for you..

Heres a few pictures of the speedometer and transmission, I cant seem to find a cable anywhere, or where a cable would go for that matter..

Looking at all the the 335 Sportsman models in 2000,one did have the digital gauge. All the rest show to be analog. Should have a spedo sensor on the right front brake caliper that plugs into the spedo. Just look around for this small connector.Item #40 Mid year change..Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

Still seem to be having what I believe is carb issues. When its cold, it seems to have great power with no stutter, but once it warms up it seems to lose a little power and still hesitates when given WOT, but not all the time. If I give it WOT it seems to stutter and hesitate, then comes out of it and takes off great. If I let off, and give it WOT again it seems to take right off fine, until I ride it a little more at normal throttle and then punch it, it hesitates. It seems to be worse when riding with a passenger. I changed the fuel filter with little hope, and that seemed to do nothing. Also, If im WOT for a long ways down a dirt road, and let off, it lets out a loud backfire from the exhaust like a gunshot. Im beggining to wonder if its the bowl height on the carb? Im not really sure, kind of at a loss here.

Manual shows to stand the carb on its end. Float arm should just be touching the float needle plunging pin. Float bowl gasket area to top of the float assy should be 13 mm (.051) Bend the float arm tang if needed. Plus if you haven't checked the fuel pump flow, pull the fuel line from the carb, crank the engine over and see if has a steady pulse of fuel.

You have the same speedo as mine. No cable just a wire to the "Hall Effect" by the left front rotor.

If the AWD works but not the speedo that usually means the Hall effect sensor is shoot.

They do not last long, I changed one once and it fail again now I just gave up and ride it. The hour meter is the only thing on the speedo that works without the wheel sensor.
