Question 04 450 YFZ GYTR Exhaust

I have a 2004 YFZ 450 GYTR Edition that I just picked up and I am trying to find a way to add some protection from the heat of the exhaust. The machine runs great and is all stock with all of the goodies that this machine came with. I was wondering if there might be an idea to add a larger heat shield or improve the one on there without doing a heat wrap.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

Since you mention the heat shield I am guessing it is your legs you are looking to protect? Best thing you can do is get some quality riding boots with some nice thick leather protecting your inner calf/leg. Wrapping the header helps, but it will look like crap if you ever run in the wet or mud and then remove the wrap.

I ride in WI and usually like to ride in shorts and shoes instead of big boots or pants. Ideally I was thinking about adding a second heat shield or replacing the one on there with a second one. It wasn't much of a burn on my leg and didn't bother me much but we weren't riding for long periods of time straight due to my brother getting stuck and making adjustments. I was just wondering if anyone had come up with anything that might help.
Thanks,
Nick

Shorts and shoes and performance atvs and dirt bikes do not mix. I was young and dumb once, have the pipe burn scars on my legs to prove it. Good luck to you, I hope you find the answers you seek. Stay safe out there bud.
