Default 1999 Sportsman 500,slight clunk from dead stop

Replaced with all new joints in main driveshaft as well as front axle shaft ujoints last year. Still Notice a slight clunk when accelerating from dead stop. Seems like it comes more from the rear. Also new rear wheel bearings and no noticable play in rear cv axles when replaced inner and outer boots. Wondering if anything to be concerned about and thanks!

Usually its the plunging joint that has a causing the clunk or click clacking that many do. Turn sharply left then right and have some one walking behind the atv to see which side the noise is coming from.On sharp turns the plunging joint on one side extends out and the ***** riding in the channel make noise. Went through years of this happening. Some would only do this when backing up,then as they got older would start making noise in forward when taking off. Plus replacing only the plunging joint or cv joint just places more stress on the other one. Got to where on really worn ones, replacing the drive shaft as a whole unit was cheaper than replacing one joint at a time.Plus less frustrating.

When you say plunging joint do you mean slip yoke on shaft? And are you saying maybe the splines on the slip yoke have slop? Had the whole shaft out and replace all the joints in it. There is no click when turning machine and no noise when moving or in front whatsoever. If I had to describe it in automotive
terms it feels like a pickup truck with some slop in the rear end. Dull clunk felt when starting from dead stop and feels like it comes from the rear of machine. Thanks again.

All will have some clunk or drive line lash as you have to figure power come from the engine to the clutches, from there to the transmission then the drive shafts.Everything has a little slack built in,if it didn't have some "give" you'd end up tearing something up.Only when you really start hearing noise as you're driving should you be really worried. Almost all the 500s made some noise on take off after a little time on them, the 700 and 800s seemed to have more because of more torque.
