my 2014 850xp wont start without giving it a little throttle...after it runs a couple of mins. then it starts, and runs fine ...no diagnostic codes are showing...tried a clean air filter and new plugs. the gas works well in everything else...it's 93 octane with Lucas oil treatment.

 

Sometimes the simplest things can cause problems. Pop the top off the throttle housing,adjust the throttle cable to where you have about 2mm clearance between the etc contact points. This usually leaves you with about an 1/8" free play on the thumb lever. You shouldn't have to even touch the throttle for the engine to crank. The owners manual even mentions not to touch the throttle for a little while after starting or you can foul plugs.Hope this solves it.

 

Wouldn't that partly hold open the throttle, even at normal operating temps?
The atv runs, and idles perfect when warmed up...only wont start when cold...unless you give it part throttle.
Is there a vacume system that gives the thing more gas at cold start?
Their is not any codes showing and dealer plugged in to laptop and says its ok...????

 

All your doing is to make sure the etc contacts are open as closed or close to it it can arc and stop one from starting. Could be why you have to give it throttle to start it. Just make sure that's set right and go through the troubleshooting list in the service manual.
