It's sure looks nice and has a great suspension but for a sand machine, I think it needs another 100 horsepower. Power/weight ratio is just not very good for a 1500-2k pound sport machine. A 5 speed would help get more power to the wheels.

They're getting better every year. Can Am just released a turbocharged 1000 cc V-twin that makes 121 HP.

And a price tag to match.

atv mag should do a comparison of the sxs vs. atv rollover apex.

the major component keeping me off those sxs's is the fear of rolling it. for example;
with the atv, you get to manipulate your machine with "body language" and the throttle...
with those sxs's, all you have is throttle, basically you just sit there and hope for the best.
one of my favorite things to do on my outty 1000 is floating around corners on dirt roads, kicking the back end out just by simply shifting my weight- can't do that on a sxs...

still- a bad *** looking sxs!
Why a comparison?
Two totally different rides.
I had Kawi 700 kfx's and they would go through anything, same thing with Razr. I just do it in style with 3 of my friends.
I admit the agility of the atv in certain situations but I can go anywhere you can and have a beer at the end of the day just the same.

Am I the only one who noticed that its basically the same model as the 2014? It might be a different engine but the 2014 model also produced 107 hp. I bet the price went up though. They're cool but too expensive for most people to buy, including myself. Well over 20K is just way too much money for most people to be able to spend on a toy.

I saw one that a company owned by Nascar driver Greg Biffle put a different engine and turbo in that makes up to about 275 hp, depending on the amount of boost selected. That would be some serious power then. Polaris will never put a 5 speed in a side by side. Everyone likes automatics, put it in gear and hit the gas. Even if it would make more power, people want easy and that means a cvt auto. Here's a little peek at the Biffle built ride along with a wildcat with the same engine swap. No mention of the cost of this engine swap but I'm certain its not cheap

As impressive as it seems they sure do not trick them out like they do their Sleds and PWC.

My 2012 ski-doo 800R E-tech is rated at 165hp stock, but it is a 2 stroke.

Polaris has made a 750 twin 4 stroke Sled that makes 145hp for years now.

If anything I would expect a 1000cc make much more then 107hp.

Yamaha has a 500 twin 4 stroke sled that makes 70hp.

I think if you want monster power, then you're going to have to do it yourself or have a third party shop do it as in the video I posted. I think manufacters don't want to build a machine that straight off the showroom floor will do over 100 mph. Yamaha is still probably paying off lawsuits for people getting hurt flipping Rhinos and the Rhino was slow. So don't expect Yamaha to ever build a high hp side by side capable of keeping up with even a rzr 900. They'll build side by sides that are great on the trail and very capable but won't be the most powerful or fastest. And they'll sell because they will be more reliable and more importantly will cost less. No turbo to fail or having driveline components fail because they couldn't handle the power. The Viking and Wolverine should be basically bulletproof in reliability and in the long run, that will sell more machines than being able to brag about being the fastest.
