Default 2008 Ranger 700 Tires

Hello. I am looking to replace the tires on my 2008 700 EFI 4x4.

Current sizes are 26x8-12 (F) and 26x11-12 (R).

I am having a difficult time finding many tires that match those sizes, especially for the front.

There appear to be a lot of 26x9-12 but very few 26x8-12.

Am I missing something or is that just the way it is?

Am looking for primarily mud tires.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Why even worry about a 1" difference in width? Choose the tires you like and run them.

I was only worried because I was concerned the wider tire would rub on the tie rod - I actually read somewhere that a one inch wider tire would do that on Ranger.

Do you think that is not a concern?

My little 350 Grizzly had Maxxis Zillas 26x9-12 fronts and 26x11-12 rears with room to spare and they had the tall 1.19" mud lugs.
I would hope a 700 SXS can do it.

Actually 8" wide on 26" tires seem a bit on the skinny side, a taller 26" tire should not be any thinner then 9" wide atleast.

If you compare enough tires of the same size, you will see that they vary that much between brands. I would be very surprised if that is true.

He is right but its actually only a 1/2 inch since the other 1/2 inch is on the outside not the inside which only matters.

Would be hard to imagine your sxs does not have over a half inch to spare before rubbing on something.

Crank the steering and just measure to make sure.

True, but...
Tires vary quite a bit...probably more than an inch in and of itself, and lets not forget that the wheels do deflect slightly under loads.

OP, i took a quick look at some Ranger forums and did see people talking about 10" wides not fitting, but saw nothing about 9". Have you inquired there?

I agree with TLC in that it would be very hard to imagine 9" NOT fitting fine, but the only way to put it to bed may be to mount one and see.
