2008 Polaris Ranger 700XP not running right
#11
Don't worry I've already ordered one from OTB just to have. I figure it's only time until the wires break inside the connector. Thanks for everything. Also found that the threaded end of the throttle cable was separated from the cable so the good thru was definitely needed. Never figured spark plug wires would cost $70.00

Probably a little cheaper here on most parts.$23 each.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse but Partzilla was about 10 bucks higher per plug wire.. Just a reference if you need future oem parts.

Still runs crappy! After replacing the spark plug wires. Waiting for the otb harness to arrive. Also I checked the rest of the sensors and found not wiring problems. Any other ideas. Almost ready to take it to the dealer. Starting to think it's possibly fuel related. As soon as you hit the throttle the rpms drop and it stammers before it takes off and other times it dies. I have placed a pressure gauge on it while riding at it stays a constant 40.

Wait on the harness! Tbap harness was the main problem we had along with an occasional tps harness short. Again you can have visible shorts along with internal wire breakage(soft feeling wires) and connector pins puling back a little not allowing good contact. Didn't think it was the plug wires doing this. If it's holding 39 psi at the pump, then you can take a sample of fuel from the bottom of the tank and check for water or just drain the tank and try fresh fuel, but still sounds like what happens on harness problems. Plus don't forget to check the crank sensor wiring running underneath the throttle body for any wire shorting to the starter body.

I replaced the harness yesterday and I was still having the same problem, being frustrated I called the dealership. They advised they thought it was a broken wire like old polaris tech stated or possibly the TPS sensor was out of whack. Long story short a one hour drive and 15 minutes in the dealership my problem has been solved with a simple TPS adjustment. Thanks everyone for the input.

Usually a tps didn't need adjusting unless it or the tamper proof idle screw was messed with, but again with electrical problems, anythings possible. Internal spring in the sensor that controls the butterfly could become weak altering vdc settings, readjustment then would be needed.Main thing is that it's finally running right for you.
