My 4 wheeler is due for its first oil change and i would like some information on how i have to go about doing so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

1- Drain the oil tank then reinstall the drain plug.
2 - Disconnect the line from the oil tank to the pump, and take the fitting off of the tank (it has the screen on it) and make sure the sump screen is clean.
3 - Reinstall the fitting making sure to wrap it with teflon tape, so it doesn't leak and hook the supply line to the pump back up.
4 - Remove the drain plug on the bottom of the engine (you'll see it thru the hole in the skid plate on the bottom near the pull start). Only about a cup or so of oil will be in there.
5 - Reinstall the drain plug.
6 - Refill your oil tank with 2 qts of oil.
7 - On the 500 you have to prime the oil pump. To do this, find the vent line on the inside top of the oil tank. Go about 2 inches away from the tank (to miss the fitting), but don't go too far as there is a vent slit in this line. Pinch off this line between the tank fitting and the vent slit (effectively sealing off the tank from the vent slit). Start the quad and let it run for 45-60 seconds. Once that's done remove the vise grips or whatever you pinched off the line with and the pump should be primed. Run the quad for a few minutes and re-check the oil....
