if its tuned for 3000 feet, well then you will probably be all right
if its tuned for 1000 feet,,,,then you will be running a bit rich at 6000 feet and visa-versa
the higher the elevation the thinner the air,,,,,so you just need to be sure you are getting the right amount of fuel to match the air
running too lean can cause damage to your engine

I got a promblem with a simialar issue.I just got back from a ride and i blew the spark plug out while out.
I think she may be getting hot.I`ve not touched the carb at all but upon looking at the plug it does look a little white and it is very hot.Any help on making the bike richer would help.

or, if you have a mechanic,,,tell him to tune it,
tannish/brown is the color you want
do you know how to perform a plug chop??
