Is there a trick to removing the front body section of plastic on a Scrambler? I have all the screws removed and the front dashplate but I can't slide the plastic back because it hits the gas tank filler and I can't lift it up because it hits the steering column. Is it necessary to pull the steering column to get the plastic off? What a pain, you can take all the plastic off my Honda in about 5 minutes.

Remove the nosepiece, and drill out the two rivets by the front bumper. Lift the front piece up to clear the gas tank intake, pull it back towards the seat a bit, then turn it to the 3, or nine o'clock position to clear the handlebars, and it should come right off.

Thanks alot Quadfather, that makes sense. I looked at the rivets up at the front and I thought those should have been made to be removable.

Quadfather...Do know if Trail Blazer plastic and Scrambler 400 plastic are interchangable ? It looks they should be. Just thought it would be fun to amaze a few soles with a faster Trail Blazer and save the work of modifying.

I remove those rivets on me and my buddies quads, throw them in the garbage with the tie rod ends and lower steering post bushings, and add stainless steel nuts and bolts.

Duneman: I believe the plastic is interchangable on the TrailBlazer, Sport, and Scrambler models.

You don't have to drill out the rivets, the plastic can be slid apart. The rivets are in one peice of plastic and the other is slotted...

That's true, the plastic is slotted, but the rivets are almost always compressed too much to allow for sliding in and out.
