Default Idle in water

How come when I put my quad in water it idles down to about 900 or 1000? I am also scared that it will cut off with pipe under water. I ride with alot of hondas and they seem to do real good.

Just wondering what you guys do when you are stuck underwater and you want to go from low to reverse. I am scared to let it idle down for the switch.

If you are stuck underwater and your intake is close to sucking in water, I would shut it off and get winched out. If you are able to back up and the water isn't in danger of going in the intake snorkel, keep the idle up to keep exhaust going out your pipe, and use your left hand to put it in reverse. Not huge idle speed. Just enough to keep the air in the exhaust going in the right direction.

I just drive through the water and it never gets down to an idle, except one time I had to push my Trailblzer backwards and give it the gas at the same time. It sure sounded funny going blub blub blub blub blub.

The same problem was with my sportsman last time, when I needed to left it in the river for 40 minutes. What about making a special snorkel for exhaust? I've seen such snorkels, but I guess they must be made from metal, although I've seen plastic, just need to be sure that it will not get melted.
