Changing Tire Size
I think I finally figured it out after re-reading the original post and the follow-up. Wheel diameter doesn't matter as long as you have the right tires on them. But all 4 tires DO need to be the same diameter on a 4x4. Is that what you needed to know Wheeler?
If you run either 25s, 26s, or 27s, front and back, it doesn't hurt anything as long as they're all 4 the same size. But if you put 26s on the back and 25s on the front it will make the rear tires turn 4% faster than the front, and 27s on the back will turn 8% faster than 25s on the front. NOT A GOOD THING in 4 wheel drive. You don't want the back end pushing around, trying to pass you. Always keep the same diameter front and rear whether it's stock size tires or bigger.
If you want to stay with the stock wheels you can get 26" tires to fit the 12" front and 10" rear wheeels. They make some the same exact width as stock but 1" taller. They also make 1' taller and wider. I had Goodyear MudRunners on my '01 Sp 500 with the 12" and 10" wheels, and they kicked @$$. The older quads like that didn't have as much clearance on the fenders so 25s fit better. I ended up trading the 26s in for 25" stock size to avoid rubbing when I bounced over the whoops.
