Default sportsman 500 compression

how much compression should a 96 sportsman 500 push??? think its time 4 a rebuild...i lost all the power...just did a head gasket after this a few hours after asome puttin around it lots it all even in low.....

you might ned just a new cam as the older ones wore off lobes. i would guess at least 120 psi new but its guess a guess w/out looking.

with the auto decompression u should see 85 - 95 psi

if ur thinking about rebuilding, why not go with a 11:1 comp piston, the HO cam and carb as well, make it run way better

Where can I fond a 11:1 piston for a 98 500 sportsman?

i was told by a mechanic here in town that it should be anywhere from 175 to 190psi??? is that right?

thats not right with the auto decompression if it was 175 to 190 we would be replacing more starters then we already are and if u go to aaenperformance.com u can find the piston, made by wiseco, either std bore or .020 oversize

i was told to put a compression gauge on it and hold the throttle wide open and crank it until the pressure goes up and stops....or cold it be the cam??? i just put a new head gasket in and the cam didnt look 2 bad...someone please give me some info it is appreacitated...thanks guyes!!!
