Default SP500 fan Replacement

Well another broken part on this bike. (2005 SP 500.H.O.) I went for a little ride the other day and the "HOT" light on the dash started to flash. I quickly turned off the machine and realized that the fan wasn't working. I tried to spin it by hand and it was seized solid. What a PITFA! I now have the bike at home and I took the fan off to try to rebuild the SPAL motor. It's not a tough job but when I took the motor apart it was full of mud and water. The front bearing had failed. I cleaned it up the best I could and got it running again but it is now noisy as hell and I don't trust it.
Has anyone here had to change the fan on there machine?
Is there a good aftermarket fan I can order instead a OEM?
The stealer over here wants $350! Not a chance in hell will I pay that for a fan.
Does any one have any part #'s?

On the back of my fan it says....
VA55/CWP-54A

Thanks for any help. I need to get this bike up and running soon!

Just buy the Fan directly from Spal not the dealer with there insane mark up. SPAL USA

My Dealer wanted $320 ,I got a new one off Ebay for $65 ,Spal had them for $85.

or get a Z4004 fan for $130 from here. http://www.universalpartsinc.com/HP_...NS&SUB=POLARIS

I talked to him yesterday and he's calling me back today with a price. I guess the part # I gave him is not a # that he stocks, so he has to call Spal to get a price. I checked out the Spal website and cross reference the fan #'s and from what I can find it's going to run me about $80 +tax+shipping.

The part # on the new fan is...
VA09-AP12/C-54A
Spal part # 30100411

ANY place is better than a Polaris dealer. My ATV has the Spal VA07-BP12/C-58A (9") I notice they still sells those But I,m sure any of there 9" fans would bolt in.

I'm sure a 9" fan might bolt in but I have an 11" in there now and I guess I need to keep it around the same amp's and CFM's. (9amp and 980-1000 Cfm)
My plan is to use the new motor on my old fan and throw the new fan and shroud in the trash!

I,d stay with a 11" it has more air flow than a 9". I would of bought a 11" but than I need a new shroud. Any of Spals low profile 11" fan should work for you.

i found one on summit racing $45 direct bolt on and has a grille to protect blades. much higher cfm. Proform Parts 67010 - Proform Electric Fans - Overview - SummitRacing.com (picture not correct it has a full rear grille) and this cools my 600 twin which i do believe has same size shroud

the only things you need are a few pieces of rubber so mounts press fan firmly to shroud. and i covered seams and wires on back of motor with silicone,

if you just measure mount hole spacing on fan from centre to centre i can tell you if the summit one will fit . just measure vertical horizontal and diagonal

So I talked to "the fan man" a few minutes ago and I ordered a direct replacement (Spal) fan for $56+tax and shipping. Funny, when I called Spal directly they quoted me $79. I guess it pays to call around.
So for around $100 I get a new fan. Thats much better than $350 from the dealer.
Now I just have to sit here and wait for the package while all my buddies are out ripping up and down the river behind my place. This sucks!!!!
