Very helpful replies guy thanks.. Let me first comment on the engine oil question.. What I actually mean is tranny oil not sure why I call it engine oil. I guess because it goes in the lower case I'm no expert haha. About the 2stroke.. I understand how a 2stroke works with injecting oil innto the fuel and such however on my particular quad there is no oil tank only a hole where one once was. which causes me to think at some point in time the injector failed and they converted it to premix... which I know is common to swap to premix in smaller ATVs not so sure on 250s? What should i mix my fuel at since the oil tank is not there and its premix now.. on my smaller quads i always put 32:1 is that okay for this or will that clog jets or not be enough oil? I know 32:1 is around 4oz oil to every gallon of gas.

I think the mixture is more on the 50:1 side of things, but 32:1 should be fine (may be more smoke than otherwise).

I agree 32;1 will be smoky you can start with that and if you find yourself always being the last 1 in the group you will know I think also you will find 50;1 is where it should be.

Was reading my Haynes manual today, and in the last paragraph about procedure for breaking in after a top end rebuild, they mention running the first couple tanks with 40:1 (forty, not fifty) mix. So, my bad, but that is closer to your 32:1 anyway.

I think what they are saying is to use the normal oil injection, as well as add 40;1 to the tank. all the extra oil mixture makes for a softer break-in I also run 3 or 4 tanks after that with oil mix I don`t use any special amount I just make sure there is still an extra amount of oil. Takes a bit longer, uses more gas and oil but once the rings seat they seat well

I woul not run it without some sort of air filter, if you said they removed the oil injection tank, right? if so mix at 40 or 50 to1, , maybe you can clamp a foam air cleaner directl to the carb, hope it hasnt already scored the piston and cylinder cause of dirt
