i love my 96 scramber. ive always loved 2 strokes, the sound, the smell. even though its a pain to work on (just blew the engine, i think my fault though). great power, and just think what a couple mods could do.

Wish everyone that blew 2 strokes that came into the shop admitted it was their fault like you posted instead of blaming it on the machine! I met a lot of people over the years that acted so innocent.

From my experience the Polaris 2-stroke engine is fairly reliable as long as you jet it right and keep oil in it and can make some really good power with the right combination of cylinder porting, compression ratio, carb, reeds, exhaust and clutching. The only problem that I've had with one was several years ago I jetted one lean at a race a melted the rings to the piston. No real major damage that a cylinder rebore, new piston, rings and a different main jet didn't fix.

Default Xplorer 400

I have a 99 xplorer 400. Great machine. It's quick and easy to work on. There are a lot of spare parts out there . Find yourself a good maintenance manual and you won't have any problems.
