Scrambler 400 nets
#12
I have several different sets of plastics that I use. If you want to cut up a set of plastics it's really best to buy an old, used set and keep your factory ones as a spare. My race cut plastics don't offer any mud protection and probably wouldn't be my first choice for a trail quad. I've been lucky over the years and have been able to buy used Scrambler plastic locally for between $25-$75 for a complete set. I even bought a Trailblazer 250 sticker to put on one set that I used to race with just to mess with people.

I should of been thinking I just traded really bad plastic for a pair of 661 but the plastic was faded and cracked alot but that's an amazing scrambler do you race or what I just parted out a scrambler 400 that I paid 500$ for and it only needed an a-arm I only bought it because of the motor so if you need some parts let me know

I've been known to participate in a race or two. My race quad that "pays my bills" so to speak is a YFZ450 but I own a couple of Polaris quads that I enjoy more than anything that I race. The Sport 400 is just a fun quad to work on and play around with. The more you learn about the 2-stroke motor and the PVT clutches the more fun that you will have with it. It's really easy to make reliable power with it once you get the basics down and understand how everything works.

When I cut my plastic I just take some masking tape and tape off the design that I want on the fenders. Then I measure the tape pattern on each fender and try to even everything out so that I get both fenders fairly even.
I used to use a small hack saw to cut my fenders, but the last few sets that I've done I've used a dremel with a cutting pad made for plastic. It's a lot faster and less work than the handsaw. After that I take some sand paper and smooth out the edges.
