Default grease fittings

Hi all, longtime lurker, second time poster!
OPT I have a question about grease fittings, My 02 sportsman is missing one on the front left lower control arm, not that it was there but there isn't even a hole. My question is how were they mounted just drill a hole and thread it or do I have to weld a bung on to put one on?
Thanks for your time.
Don
Great site, lots to read and absorb

Your model came equipped with grease fittings (7080433) but if it's ever been replaced it's possible the superceded part number omits it. I've had several a-arm replacements that came in that went to the latest model, ones without the zerks and bushings were changed also! It's a threaded zerk fitting. I believe it's a 1/4-28 and available at any auto supply. I just tapped em out and installed the zerks I had in stock to match the other side that had one. Easiest thing is just take one out and match it up if you have to. http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...2002&fveh=5582

Where can I find a diagram showing the grease fittings on a 98 500 Sportsman?

Owners manual shows the locations in the maintenance section. You might try here to see if you can download one.Polaris ATV, Snowmobiles, RANGER, Victory
Plus a good service manual has most zerk locations also.https://www.tradebit.com/usr/tradema...pairManual.jpg

Must be a replacement one. My Sportsman has like 23 or more zerks and I think the new 500 have like 5 now.

My 2003 600 did not have grease zerks on the A-arms. When I had to replace one(nasty tree stump collision). The new a arm had a grease zerk.

2002 has many 2003 went 'zerkless' for the most part. A-arms changed between the years also and bushings used...
