What wires did you switch on the panel(most people do it there) plus when you have all four tires off the ground do the front tires turn also whether the awd light is off?

Sorry i was wrong i ran a wire from a hot red and white to a blank post on the grey and white terminal block. Now awd switch works as it should on 12v to grey hub wires. Off no voltage

With the awd switch in the OFF position is there power to the gray/white wire terminals? If there isn't then that's ok.If there is constant power regardless of awd switch position, then I'd consider this a temp fix. If there isn't power then that's ok,just leave it. Polaris finally got smart on the 99 and up models and placed the switch on the transmission where they belong, not in the shift box..

If i understand everything ive read the shifter box is what feeds the power to the awd switch. Is it a better idea to jump the power to the shifter with the wire thats supposed to have power if the switch was good? I do not want to make problems and just dont havz the extra money to drop on a switch now. By jumping those wires the power. Ould stop at the switch when its off. As opposed to energizing a bunch of wires that are not supposed to be hot

ALL you have to do is jack up the front and rear tires, start the engine and place in gear. "IF" the awd switch is off(no light) and the front wheels engage, then you've just by passed the gear position switch and the awd switch also. If the awd switch still controls on/off action on the front wheel drive, then you're ok the way you have it. If it doesn't then it's like the first Polaris models back in 87-88 that didn't have a switch or the option to turn off the awd. Only lasted two years before in 89 they went to the "demand 4 drive switch" so you did have the option and less wear on parts.

I think I have finally got it. I hooked the grey wire from the awd switch to a hot wire. The awd switch controls the grey wires to the hubs. Awd on power to the coils. Awd off no power to coils. Front tires rotate the way they should. When you mentioned a temporary fix hooking into the block on he panel it made me nervous, so I tried an easier approach. I can not thank you enough for all your help. It has been a life saver. Thank you again

As long as the hot wire you hooked the grey awd switch to is the red/white that only powers up with the key on,then you're fine. Then this way you're only bypassing the gear box switch..
