A warning for everyone affected by the Ranger Diesel shifting / clutch problems
If you have a Ranger Diesel 2011-2013, and have experienced the problem with the Ranger being difficult to impossible to shift, please see this thread:
Ranger Diesel Nightmare - RangerForums.net - Polaris Ranger Forum
You are far from alone, and the problem may be worse than you think.
When the Ranger becomes difficult to shift, shifting it while stopped becomes equivalent to shifting it while in motion. This will eventually result in catastrophic transmission damage. It happened to me, and cost me $2500 in repairs.
The Polaris clutch is defective, and the only way to get the Ranger to shift properly is to purchase a $1500 aftermarket clutch sold by a separate company, which just happens to be run by an ex-Polaris employee.
If you or someone you know has been affected by this, please visit the thread linked above and make your voice heard.
