Default question: POLARIS 500 SPORTSMAN

Just purchased a used 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO EFI, with around 1000hrs. When I look at it from the back the left side wheels align with each other, but on the right side the front tire at the ground sticks out about 3/4 of an inch, or more and the top is tilted in that much. What is the problem. A friend said, A arm Bushing, or wheel baring, or bent A arm. I have a Moose plow on it also if that means anything. New to ATV's, this is my first. Any help.

You can check this with a straight edge as the left side front and rear tires do align closer than the right front and back tires. This is mainly because of the frame/steering geometry. Same thing when we align one using a straight edge to get the proper toe out. The left side front tire is closer to the straight edge than the right side will be in alignment to the rear tire. But still allows you to toe out properly. The snow plow guys can probably help you better on this, but you can push down on the front end to see if the cartridge is blown or a spring is weak.If either happen then most times the front end will just bounce. Plus look for obvious a-arm damage or loose a-arms from worn bushings. Jack the front end off the ground and you can tell if the strut upper and lower pivot ***** are worn also. You'll have up and down travel on the strut if they are,but the top nut will usually be tight.

1000Hrs! that's like 10,000+ miles. My 2001 has 320 hours and 3,300 miles. when it hits 1000 hours the miles sure will be loaded up by then.

you would see a bent A arm if it was out that much. using a plow on the bike makes the already weak springs even worse so most likely you need heavy duty springs up front or spring spacers to help off set the worn springs and extra weight.

Most IRS atvs have a little bit of negative camber but it should be equally aligned on both sides. It's done because when you sit on the bike it squats a little bit, then when you hit the throttle the rear end squats even more.

With that said, 1k hours is certainly a lot of use so I wouldn't be surprised if you needed new bearings and bushings all around

Edit - sorry, guess I read it wrong. Thought it was the rear tires
