Oil pump does not work
1994 Polaris 300 and the oil pump does not work. I put premix in because the original owner had premix in too. Sure enough oil tank is still full after a few rides. tried holding the oil pump arm wide open at idle but didn't do anything. have these pumps ever failed before and if so is there a rebuild kit or something?

Yes the oil pump had problems.. 1994-96 300s had a plastic oil pump drive gear that the teeth would get hot and melt at the crank shaft gear rendering the oil pump useless. Fugi had tried to go cheap on this and it bit them.I rebuilt a couple engines in warranty during this time and several afterwards using the finally updated steel drive gear that the 250 engine always had. You can pull the pump, try to remove the plastic drive gear and replace it if you still want to use the pump. This is what turned a lot of people off oil pumps, but the 250 really never had major problems, just the 300s and 400s that froze up from water intrusion for the most part. Also weird tonight i started it, and shut it down and about 10 mins later came to start it again and all i hear is the clicking from the solenoid. Crazy how the starter was working then quit all of a sudden.

I pulled the engine, and pulled the oil pump. Disassembled the oil pump and cleaned it up. The gears are spinning good inside the pump and the motor gear looks like its made of metal, it is also spinning when i turn over the motor. Does that mean the oil pump is working and maybe its the lines or an adjustment problem?
