4x4 problem
#12
oh so another thing why when i put it in reverse with the override button pushed in it always shows the awd is engaged ( with the awd button pushed in of coarse) but here lately whenever i put in forward drive the awd wont engage could this be because of the armature plate as well or are we talking something different.

With the awd on and in reverse when you push the over ride button it defeats the limiter module and allows full power and awd in reverse. This is normal. If you have awd in reverse, you should be able to have it in forward range, but if it pulls to one side, one wheel locks up,then it's usually an armature plate problem. If you don't have awd in forward range at all, then can be a couple different things, but this is usually an electrical problem. If you have power to the gray wires on both hubs while in gear and awd on then don't have it,can be a mechanical issue. Like I mentioned jack the atv up with all tires off the ground first. In awd check if both wheels turn or just one.If you tear into the hubs always replace both armature plates.Plus another thing to do is pull the black wire from the limiter module under the front panel. It can screw up and cause problems. You can then have full power in reverse without having to push the over ride button. On some models you still have to push it to get awd in reverse. But even that can be defeated by another bypass that some have done.Item#18 is the module you pull the black wire from.Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

While key is on,in gear and awd on,you can check to make sure you have 12 volts to the gray wires at the connectors under the front panel.Either with a test light or meter.Test power coming in and you can test each small gray wire leading to the hubs by just barely scraping a small bare spot on the wiring. Tape it up afterwards.
