Polaris made an awesome machine..
Ok really nothing new here..lol.
I just really wanted to put it out there how much I appreciated my '01 Sportsman 500.
I'd say on average, this machine gets used about 4 times a week, lotta times everyday.
I use it for collecting firewood, grooming trails, plowing, hauling brush an trash around, and of course, just for fun!
In the 12 years I've owned this quad, I've replaced the starter bendix, an took the carb off and used a 10 dollar carb repair kit because the float needle had gotten gummed up.
That's pretty damn good in my book, for a 14 year old machine that gets used most days!!
My hat's off to the engineers at Polaris for this machine, I couldn't ask anymore as far as reliability goes!
EDIT: I can't exclude my other totally awesome Polaris machine, my '01 Victory V92, haha..

Noticed that a lot over the years. The old farmers and ranchers atvs that were used on a daily basis for work had less problems on their atvs than fair weather/pleasure riders or even seasonal riders like deer hunters. Sitting up sometimes months at a time hurts atvs way more than working them.Keep her going!

Love my two Polaris ATV's. Started out buying a used Honda Rancher from a Honda dealer because everyone told me to stick with Honda's for the reliability. After having it back to the dealer for a rebuild 3 times in a year because it wouldnt quit burning oil, I was done with the dealer and Honda because of how I was treated. The Rancher came in as a trade that was swamped under water and the dealer just pressure washed it and put new rings in it and put it up for sale. There was so much trash inside the gearcase that no matter if they put a new jug, piston and rings on it, it would take the rings out in a matter of a couple weeks. Threatened civil court and turned them into the state for selling a salvage vehicle without disclosing it and Honda stepped in and told the dealer to refund us our money and a pay us for the troubles we had. Bought the Xplorer but was a little hesitant because it was older and a two stroke. Had good luck with it and actually decided to go through the whole thing this winter so it will be a long term ATV for my family. Got the 2000 Sportsman last fall and the kids love how smooth running it is. Turns a little harder than the Xplorer, but not much of a problem for my softball, basketball and Archery playing daughters, lol.
Got a little Yamaha Breeze for the girls, but that may get sold if I find another decent sized Polaris to add to the other two I have.
