Here is the side view of my Xplorer with the Kendas mounted on back. 25x12-10. Not even close to the same height as the Carlisle's I took off the machine. The 489's I replaced the Kendas with are a true 25 inch tire. One of the guys at my campground has the ITP Mud Lites on his Xpress 400 and they hold up well on the trail as well as the road. If I cant find a decent price on the Mud Lites, I will probably go with the 489's on my 350L.

The Dunlop KT125's are what I have on my Sportsman and they do seem to go through a lot. We trail rode last weekend and went through a few muddy spots and never had to use AWD on either my Xplorer with the Carlisle 489's and the Sportsman with the Dunlops. Seem pretty decent on the hard road too.

Ever thought a mud HOLE was a puddle, drove into it and got a mud shower + mud in your boots? Sucks ***

Exclamation

can someone explain how to tighten the chain? The videos dont show me **** and i jsut cant figure it out. Also when i accelerate, the 4wheeler pops, like its skipping over a notch on the sprocket. Im sure it being so loose has a lot to do with it! Thank you for any info in advance

Loosen the two pinch bolts at the rear housing, insert a small punch either through the eccentric into the sprocket or from the sprocket into the eccentric housing. Push forward until you have 3/8-1/2 inch play in the middle of the chain then tighten the pinch bolts.96 models and up the sprockets and swing arm were at the same level so chains could be tighter and suspension had less effect on chain tension and movement. For 4 wheel drive the next step is to remove the center chain guard and loosen the two 5/8" pinch bolts on the center eccentric housing.Insert a small punch through the front sprocket and and roll the atv rear wards until the chain has 3/8" slack in the middle then tighten the pinch bolts. When you adjust the center chain tighter the front chain always loosens up. The 5/8" inch bolt is a little hard to get to,but use a small extension, socket and ratchet down into the front eccentric, another socket and ratchet on the bottom nut or an air impact works best. Either insert a punch through the front sprocket into the eccentric or if you're careful you can use a dull flat punch or an air impact on the drivers side of the eccentric cut outs and impact it rearwards until the chain raises and has about 1/4- 3/8" max slack in the middle, then tighten the pinch bolt. Always inspect the sprockets for worn/damaged teeth and chains for any stiff or wobbly links that may be a sign of time to replace. Here's a video on the rear of an Explorer but the guy adjusts the chain too loose.
