Yes 8-10 ft pounds max on the 6mm rocker arm support block bolts.Every manual shows a little different specs on this torque setting but don't vary much. I just settled at 10.Plus always criss cross tighten on the block bolts.

Is it recommended to use a sealant on the gaskets or just use them dry?

On new gaskets I'd leave em dry.If you feel better in using something, just use a thin film of Threebond or similar product.

Thank you opt, I'll just leave em dry then. There is always something that comes up during reassembly now the fuel petcock is leaking. Have to go and find one of them now.

i'ts back together woohoo. Is there a procedure to prime the fuel pump or just keep pulling. I can get it to run on starting fluid but when that runs out thats it.
The battery will be here tomorrow.

If you have a hand vacuum you can disconnect the vacuum line from the carb and hook the vacuum to it and give it a few pumps. Should get enough fuel into the carb for it to kick off, then the pump will do the rest. Or you can just wait on the battery. At least have an old battery hooked up as electronics can be affected if you don't.

Yea no vacuum think I'll just wait on the battery. No worries the old battery is still hooked up as I try to start it.

Ok the new battery is in and nothing, thought solenoid, changed out solenoid with a known working one from my 1996 sport 400...nothing. Now thinking starter button but there aren't even any lights. If I bypass solenoid the starter turns the engine over. Talked to owner and he said he did run it without a battery at all for a time.
Any thoughts?

Start with checking that you have power through the circuit breaker located up from the battery in a sealed pouch. It transmits power from the battery to the switches, lights, etc. If it's corroded may be the problem. No power to the switch means no power to the small solenoid wire that triggers solenoid to power the starter.Any auto should have this 20 amp breaker. Here's a new ones versus some corroded ones.
