2013 polaris sportsman 500 HELP!
I went riding with a few friend the other day and my buddys 2013 sportsman just quit running and wouldn't start back. So we checked spark it was good, pulled the fuel line feeding the carb from the fuel pump and it was pumping fuel, airbox was clean. We then removed the carb cleaned the jets and that didn't help either. I checked his oil and it was as black as coal so tjis led me to pull the cam shaft sprocket cover off and the bolt for the timing marks on the flywheel. I aligned the T mark and the dowel pin on the crank gear was pointing nearly straight up. It was not centered withe the head should it be? Any advice will be appreciated is out of time or is it someting to do with the ecu ect. ?

If the cam chain is tight about the only way the timing can get off is if the slotted nut has backed off the lower sprocket and it could have possibly sheared the woodruff key. Yes the cam index pin should be dead center of the head with the flywheel tdc mark on the recoil pointer.
