Default 2006 polaris sportsman 90 forward gear issue

I recently bought a 2006 Polaris sportsman 90 for my boy as a Christmas present knowing it needed some work which I got all that done and put on the new belt. the wheeler will go great in reverse but forward it will just kind of hop and have no power and if I let off the gas it will stall out! now I am having issues that it wont engage at all in forwards could it be something in the transmission?

Could be a problem in the shift drum assy or even the shift ratchet that engages forward and reverse gear. Items#19,24. Ok thanks that's kinda of what I was leaning towards. I was planning on taking off the cover tomorrow and seeing what I can find!
