I agree, mine was diagnosed at the dealer before I bought it. Otherwise I would have gotten a.manual first.

What size socket do I use to take the bolt off that's holding the flywheel in front of the stator?

When running and sputtering. Mine did the same so I changed coil and plug cap with a cap with a resistor and rubber boot and it came out of it

Like the old saying a picture is worth a thousand words.. Plus is the flywheel key sheared on the crank shaft or the shaft messed up any? Kinda hard to see on the picture.Plus there's some cheap aftermarket ones now for a fraction of oem prices.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stator-Polar...RVr4-v&vxp=mtr That is unless you don't mind spending 575 bucks for an oem stator. Plus I'd still have the battery load tested also. Depending on how long this is been going on a battery can be sucked down enough and can cause problems on being able to hold a charge if it has an open cell.

It's messed up. Getting a 22mm tap and die tomorrow to fix it.

Did the key in the flywheel shear or is the crank shaft itself ok? just thinking if it did, could have had something to do with stator.. Normally Kokusan stators are pretty bullet proof.

Then I guess just chalk it up to a fluke failure even if it says Japan on the pick up coil.Even Ktm used Kokusan in a lot of bikes and we hardly ever had a problem on them, but this just shows that nothing's invincible
