Default 2002 Polaris Sportsman 700 for $500

Hi guys, I just bought a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 700 twin for 500 bucks. Sounds to good to be true, i know. It runs drives goes into 4x4 and stops. The whole 9 yards. The only thing is the shift linkage is broke. Did I get a good deal. I want to know what you think.

ps it came with a winch and a 6 foot plow

Even if it didn't run the parts are worth more than $500. I think you got a good deal.

You got a good deal for sure even if it has small problems like a broken shift linkage. Hopefully when replaced it will shift ok with no problems.Only other problem on these was the Ducati ignitions that would fail.Updated kits are available if ever needed. Even if it comes down to that, you still made out ok especially with the winch and plow included. Even if you have to spend some $ down the road, you can look at this to help cheer you up. Even if you have to spend a few hundred fixing or replacing other things it most likely needs, you're still going to be well ahead. The winch and plow alone are probably worth $500. I assume it has a ton of miles but as long as the engine isn't smoking I wouldn't worry about it. Just check the oil often to make sure it isn't using any and top it off if and when you need to.

Ya thing starts right up. No smoke or anything like that. As for miles and hours im not really sure. I need to look this weekend. My wife picked it up because I was away. Ill post on here as soon as I know. And thanks. Seeing that it can be worth over $2,000 really makes me feel good about my buy.

He says it runs and drives. Evidently it's stuck in gear until he get the linkage replaced. Even if it has problems,500 bucks for a running machine.. Even I'd buy one like that.

UPDATE. I looked into it, It has 1,462 miles and 221.5 hours. Goes into all gears. (I had to use vice-grips because the shift shaft is broke.) It needs U-joints on the front prop shaft, 2 rear axles, rear brake line, and the plastic foot wells. The plastics have a crack that has been stitched up. There is also no front rack. It will also need tires. But overall I think I got a good deal.
