Default Choke sticking

Starting out my 5 day weekend today and I headed up to my campsite to get the four wheelers out. I jumped on my xplorer 300 to pull it up to the camper and I flipped the choke like I always do to start and it popped right off but didnt want to idle and ran rough. I could tell it was running rich and I tried the choke again but the lever felt loose. Pulled the seat off and took the choke out and it was stuck but came out once I pulled the cable up. The plunger was new when I rebuilt the carb this winter so I don't know if this is just a random thing. I gave it a shot of wd-40 and put it back together and it works good now. What would cause this?

Thanks,
Mike

Corrosion from gas vapors plus being brass in an aluminum body, dissimilar metals in themselves can cause corrosion. This is a common thing to happen on all machines. Good idea to take them out ever now and then and clean them but no one ever does.
