Default 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 Electrical problem

Hello I'm new here but my 2005 Polaris sportsman 500 ho is having a electrical problem. It has a brand new battery in it and it wouldn't start so we tried jumping the solenoid to see if it would start and it sparked. So I ordered a new solenoid for it and put it on and now it's not getting now power to the ignition, light or gauge. I'm thinking maybe a fuse or the ECM fried when it sparked. Is there anyway to test this or is it something else. Please help need to get it up and running before snow hits.

First off has the ecm been replaced under the recall. Some are still out there with the black Chinese ecms.http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2008/...o-Fire-Hazard/ If it has all the solid state circuit breakers are in the ecm plus one of the breakers controls power to the dash and lights. The manual does give some sort of tests on the ecm but not much. Sounds like you have short somewhere that you've over looked or jumping the solenoid could have shorted out the ecm. If you need a manual for this, here's one for 5 bucks that may help track down the problem. 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 Service Manual PDF Download Plus there is a possibility you may have meted the fusible link that goes in the harness close to the battery. You can do a resistance check on it to see if it's shorted.Hopefully it's simple as that and not the ecm. This is the part# listed for your model. This can cut power to everything.NOS OEM FACTORY POLARIS FUSIBLE LINK KIT 2202147 | eBay

Here's good description on how to use a meter set on ohms resistance.
It doesn't matter which probe goes where, continuity is non-directional.
if your circuit is continuous, the screen displays a value of zero (or near zero) the wire is ok.
If the screen displays 1 or OL (open loop), there's no continuity—that is, there's no path for electric current to flow from one probe to the other.

Look at the pic of the wire from the ebay listing. The fusible link is on the battery and feeds into the harness. You may have to snip one end of the wire to test it.Easy to use a connector and shrink wrap if shows continuity and not 1 or 0l on the meter for a short or open circuit. Look at this post from a member that had to replace one also.https://atvconnection.com/forums/pol...ml#post3254847 If the fusible link is ok,then more than likely an ecm problem.

There is no fuse able link on the battery it's just a ground cable that's bolted to the frame thats it.
