Anybody know how the Polaris maufacturers rate the towing capacities of their quads? My Sportsman 335 is rated at 850 pounds, yea right! I've pulled twice that, easily!

All manufactures have to go threw some saftey test before they can be put on the market.

The towing test is not based on what it can pull but what it can stop at a certaint speed in less than so many feet. The numbers are then given to the manufactures and the manufactures then talk to there lawers and "gut" them so they are less likely to get sued.

My quad is rated at 1050-Lbs(I think) but I pulled an 8000-lb truck with it. Me and a 450s broke a 10,000-lb towstrap tring to pull each other.

Imagine what a yamaha grizzly can pull, the king is here and the only other machine that is capable of dethroning it is the Diesel.

As Bone-Cat (aka Boner) posted, I have been told that they base the towing capacity on the braking ability of the quad.

YAM8,what FACTS can you give me about the pulling power of the King Grizz[as you put it] and NOBODY else's quad except a Diesel being able to dethron it's pulling capabilities?I can think of a few other 4x4s that will match and even out pull the Grizz.Do you just base your post on your own opionion?Perhaps you are a loyal Grizz owner? Thanks and Happy Trailing===Bill

almost any quad will spin the tires before running out of power. So the ones that will pull the most are the ones that are evier. A locked front end is big +.
