I can't seem to get my rear brake to work.
It is either tight as hel and won't push down or after I bleed it it pushes all the way down without braking.

Any Suggestions?

i've got a 2001 scrambler, and the only thing i can tell you is : forget it !!!. when it was still under warenty i went to see the dealership 3 time for the brakes, and after a while it came back not working... now each time i go for a tune up they fix the rear brakes and after i used them few times they don't work untill the next tune up.

once i saw them fixing it. in the rear caliper the only thing that separate the handle bar lever line and the foot pedal line is a little O-ring and it's not strong enough thought it always blow up.

to proof it's true, hold the handlebar's lever with you're hand then push the brack pedal and you will feel it in your hand, taht means that the O-ring is dead.

Have you checked your master cylinder on the handle bars and the one near the swing arm? I don't use my rear brakes. I just use the one on the handle bar which is both. I think you should only use the rear brakes sparingly.

 

that's what i do, i don't use it very often. so, when i'll need it, it'll work !

 

I haven't used my rear brake in probably 4 years on my Scrambler after the reservoir for it broke. Amazingly I have found I don't need it and my brakes are still the factory original on a 98. SO.... I actually removed everything for the rear brake a few week-ends ago as I can't use it, so GONE,.,..

 

on my 02 scrambler the rear brakes worked awesome untill i had to change the pads now i cant get them to work all that well..my brother has a sport and he said he had the same problems when he changed his..he also said its because im not bleeding them corectly,i guess when bleeding the rear brake you have to use the hand control and the foot control at the same time or something like that..im going to have him show me how he did it and then see if mine works..

 

The only way I ever got my rear brakes bled was using a Mighty Vac. Trying to pump them up and bleed them just didn't work for me. The Mighty Vac creates a vacuum and draws the fluid out, it works real well.

I just replaced my rear pads .I had the same problem. I had to bleed them to get a pedal. First find the bleeder beside the line that comes from your rear brake pedal. Be sure your res. is full of fluid then open the bleeder push down pedal tighten the bleeder then let the pedal up. Repeate this until there are no air bubbles. Be sure to keep res. full of fluid will doing this. It would help to have someone to help you push the pedal down. I did it myself it is quite a stretch to push the pedal and work the bleeder. I did this to mine and rear brake works great. Hope it works for you.

 

i've had the same problem with my 02 500 scrambler; from a mnth after i bought it from the those pieces of sh@t at midwest polaris what jerkoffs.i have to bleed mine every few weeks and just changed the pads the 1st time.havent tried them yet.they told me thats normal ,whatever. 6grand and you have to do that.they can bl@w me
