Default 400EX or Z400

I have a 400ex and several people say a Z400 is faster. From my expierences its not. It may have a little more bottom end, but mid-range and top end power dont even compare. What do you guys think?

From my experience with some exs and zs racing the z has more power all around and about 3 mph over the ex on top speed. This is completely stock. Magazines basically say the samething i jsut said also. Jamie Mace

400ex is a wheel machin. u can get the front end up any gear. just yank the pars hit the throtl n u lift. and dont listen to what mags say. the mags say the 400ex dont stand a chance against the z. well the z has 2 hp more only than a 400ex and speed is only 2mph faster on the z.

Don't need any clutch to get mine up in 3rd. I've pulled it up in 4th without a clutch a few times but you have to have exactly the right speed and time it right. And pull like crazy.

I have both an EX and Z, with identical mods. The Z is WAY FASTER!

The stock Z engine is really corked up. Just pulling off the airbox lid and an aftermarket exhaust, make a world of difference. The EX does well with those mods too, but just doesn't respond as well to the mods as the Z.

I've owned both as well and the Z400 is faster, especially mid-top range. It also wheelies better IMO. That's not to say the EX is not a great machine, which it is and what I own now, but if your in open area's the Z400 is simply quicker.
