What Quad Should I Get Next?

I own a Raptor 660, 700, and a 400EX. Don't waste your time with the 400EX. They are air cooled, tend to run hot in trails, and don't compete anywhere near the Raptors. They are simple bikes to work on, and handle great, but you are always going to want more power that they just can't provide. I have built them up to 440s, added exhaust, ported the head.. still sucks hind tit to the Raptor.. all.. day.. long.
The 660 is a good, reliable machine as long as the carbs are dialed in correctly. Make sure you use Seafoam to keep them clean so you don't ever have to pull them off (it sucks). The 660 is also a lil top heavy. This can be improved cheaply by widening the rear with extended wheel hubs or a wider axle. My 660 was my main ride for 5yrs, and it was reliable, great for trails, and had tons of torque.
With your budget between 2 and 3 grand, you may be able pick up a used 700. The fuel injection is NICE, and the handling is perfect for a trail quad. Here in Houston, I routinely see 700s under 3 grand that someone in the oilfield is trying to offload. You could definitely find one for 3500.

Yeah, I see that you are in Canada, and the market is not going to be as large. I have not heard anything bad about the LTZ400s. I don't have any personal experience with them, so I can't claim to be an expert on them. I hear they handle great, and are fairly reliable.
The 660 does get a bad rep. I would stay away from them if you aren't mechanically inclined. They are notorious for the one-way starter clutch, trannies in the 01s, and the pain in tuning the dual carbs. Once the problem areas are addressed, they can be rock solid bikes. I have been on a lot of riding trips where the 660 was "old faithful". I replaced the starter clutch, widened it, and got the carbs dialed in; then she was solid af. Loved the monstrous low end torque from the 660.
Good luck in your search!
