Default warrior humming

Bought a 98 warrior for a farm quad and something for my nephew and mom to screw around on a little bit. Bought it not running with carb issues, got the carb rebuilt and it starts good and runs fine but it's making a humming noise. I asked the PO if he knew what it was and he said the starter bearing was going out.? Anyone know what this could be? It sounds like it's coming from the starter area but can't tell for sure... Asked my local dealership and he was just saying he could get me a new starter for 80$ and blah blah blah. So they're no help unless I take it in. So should I just get a new starter for 35$ online or could that be connected to this? It turns over with no issues whatsoever.

Could be the one way bearing or it could be the bearing in the stator cover

If there is noise starting, starter just spins, etc usually the problem isn't the starter but it's the starter clutch or one way clutch as some call it. Item#9. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

Hopefully, they have gotten you on the right road to getting the quad fixed.

But if I don't post this, my sarcastic inner self is going to explode.

Maybe it's humming because it doesn't know the words?

Whew! Better now.
