I own a YFZ450 and a Yoshimura Z450. The Z has a higher top speed but my YFZ has more of a hit. The bottom end power is about the same. I'm a dune rider and they both can climb the valley side of Sand Mountain Utah in 3rd gear with my 220lb. butt. My YFZ has the cam mod, Pro Flow kit, and a stock exhaust.

The Z has linear power and it's very deceiving. It doesn't feel as fast as the YFZ, but it is. The power is very smooth and controllable. The head on my Z450 is not ported either. I will get it ported over the winter and it will for sure run better. I actually like the power delivery on The Yoshi better than my YFZ.

Let me ask you did you put he kit together your self or did you send it out to yoshi for rebuild? Yohsi claims that you will get 55hp at the rear wheels with a 47mm carb. You should be beating the yamaha.

I've never seen a 47mm. carb. What brand is the carb? Doug Gust runs the same motor with a 41 FCR and his quad is churning out about 51 to 52 horsepower which is more that enough on a track.

Like I said, I will be tearing the head off in the winter for some port work.

A very reputable dealer did all the work. They've been building motors for years. I run an Edelbrock carb instead of the Keihin as well.
