Default New to the ATV World

Ok so here's the deal. I'm contemplating on getting a Z250 or a Z400. Now i know the 250 is like a girls bike but I'm not going to be doing a whole lot of riding. That is, unless I get addicted, which I probably will. Right now i'm just looking for something to have a little bit of fun on but nothing too serious. I rode one of my friends Honda 250's and I had a blast on that. The thing is that if I really start getting into it then I know i'll want something better and faster. But on the other hand I dont want to spend a ton of money for something i'm not going to use. Anyways, heres what I found at my local dealer: A "New" 2007 Z250 for $3185 or a 2008 Z400 for $4425. I really want the 400 but is it really worth it for someone that may not use it to its full potential? Thanks for your advice.

I don't know where you live but go to www.craigslist.org and click on the state and region you live in and type in z400, warrior, 400ex (z400 is better), 300ex (slow but durable and cheap usually same price as warrior so your better off getting the warrior), and just to let you know i would definetely not recomend a blaster, the atv i would recomend is a warrior because their fun, cheap, and reliable, and im good enough on my warrior that i can keep up with my friend on his raptor 660r when racing on a track. www.craigslist.org is definitely a good website to find used quads. I hoped this information helped you!!!!

I actually just got off craigslist. I found a 2003 z400 for $2000. That seems like a good price to me. What is your opinion on that?how durable are suzukis? And what should I look for when going to buy a used quad off of craigslist? Are there things I should look for that mean it's been beat up? I also found a 2004 polaris predator 500 for $2000. The only problem is that it's not registered in California so I would have to pay for that.

Get the new z400 and adjust the throttle so it doesn't open all the way until you get some practice. You'll not only outgrow the speed but also the suspension on the 250.

Dude, I'm a big guy and I love my 300ex and my Kymco Mongoose.
When my buddies want to go bang the trails hard, I take my beloved 250R.
When we go for a general ride, I take the 300ex or the Kymco. I really do have alot of fun on them.
Both are fast enough and reliability is not an issue.
As for 400 class machines, The 400ex is the most reliable. The z400 would be my next choice.

I was looking in San diego on craigs. They were both listed at around 2200 but the sellers accepted 2000 for them. Thank for the advice everyone.

Forget the 400. The 250 is fine.

Silly question on a forum like this. People here are ENTHUSIASTS. They will always recommend the bigger more powerful machine.

Yea, I've definitely decided on a 400. Now I just don't know which one. I'm thinking of buying used 2003-2005. I found a 2003 KFX400 for $2500 and a 2004 Predator 500 for $2000 it just has some registration issues. I looked at a Z400 today but it was pretty beat up. Any recommendations. I really want a 2005 KFX400 but I can't find a used one.

Forget the pred. Consider the 400ex.
