Ozark 250 Fuel Shut off
On is off when it is not running, on is on when it is running. Res is reserve, PRI is prime--on no matter what. It should be set to on all the time unless you run out of gas (turn to res), or have drained the carb or let it sit a long time (turn to PRI then to on). If you want to run it dry either unplug the vacuum line (not fuel line or it will go all over) or clamp the fuel line.

The easiest way to leave the float bowl dry, is to shut the motor off, and use the screw on the bottom of the carb, to drain the float bowl. If the valve is in the on or res position, the gas will only flow if the valve senses vacumn from the running motor.
The pri, for prime, will flow gas whether or not the motor is running.

Thanks for the help. So the only way to actually run the carb dry is to drain it by petcock? I always turn the fuel off on my Kodiak and let it die, but we didn't do this to the Ozark and let it sit awhile and the gas went bad in the carb. Only had about 10 hours on it and had to have the carb cleaned. Wasn't too happy about it.

Its not the only way, but probably the easiest way. You can disconnect and plug the vacumn line, and run the motor til it dies, Then dont forget to reattach it.
You could also get a hose clamp, and clamp off the vacumn line or the fuel line, Heres a link to one of the clamp types.

Is it normal for the carbs to get dirty if the quad sits for a few months? The Ozark doesn't get rode like mine and I don't want to have to clean the carb everytime. It wasn't started for about 2-3 weeks and went to start it last night and it idles fine, but seems to have a hesitation when giving it gas. Didn't have time to ride it, but I remember it was doing that before. Any thoughts?
