Default what size tires front and rear 94 LT-4WD

it has 10" rims has 25x13.50x10 on the rear and 22x8x10 on front..
I know in a 4x4 vehicle you should keep tire size the same, does that hold true for atv's also?

what was the oem tire size for a 1994 Suzuki LT-4wd 250 cc 4x4?
thanks guys/gals

I think the tires you have are oem. Read this thread for more info on your other question: http://forums.atvconnection.co...tid=18&threadid=550777

Ok, but you know the front will pull faster than the back right? You'll effectively be "dragging" the back wheels around when you're in 4x4 mode. Just want to be sure you know that.

maybe I will just keep the oem tire size, I was just wanting a little more ground clearance and alos thought maybe they were the wrong size up front..
like I said in my jeep in the manual it says to keep all tire diam. the same to save wear on the front or rear drive components.

thanks Randy

You can try 26 rears and 23 fronts to keep the stock ratio. What I do not get is my back 25" tires looked new but my front 25" tires were almost bald yet the 4wd behaved normally, but I must of wore a inch of tread off the front tires making it more like I had 25" backs and 24" front tires.

Well, what you have to decide is if you'll be driving straight or turning more while in 4x4 mode. If you're turning all the time, then you'll definitely want the front tires to turn faster since the front tires make a wider arc than the rears (unless you're backing up). So, the jeep manual is right, but only if you're going in a straight line. When you turn, the jeep manual is totally wrong. In that case, your driveline will actually wear more!

Personally, on my ranger I'm going to step up the front ratio. With the stock ratio, I find that when I turn, my back wheels "hop" on dry dirt because the back wheels are turning too fast relative to the front wheels. However, if my front wheels were turning faster, not only would the back wheels not "hop" on turns, but they would merely drag a bit when I'm going straight. I don't used 4x4 too much on dry ground anyway, but when I do, I'd rather have the rears dragging on straights than binding and hopping on turns.

I was going to increase my tire size on my LT4WD too at one time, but I scrapped the quad and totally forgot what tires I had in mind. But I know you can find a suitable combo to give more ground clearance. I just don't remember. Seems like the backs were 30's and the front 27. I have an excell spreadsheet somewhere with it all broken down, I just have to find it.

You do not have OEM tire sizes right now.

Original tire size for the '94 Suzuki LT 250 is 22x8x10 on the front and 24x11x10 on the rear. Unlike most 4wd quads, the LT250 and the LT 300 (King Quad) use a different tire size for the front and rear. The rotation speed is adjusted via the gearing to keep the different size tires turning at the same speed to avoid crabbing while in 4wd.

If you run mostly in dirt, mud or sand you can go to the same size tire without noticing any slippage, but put it on hardpack in 4wd and you'll feel the front end fighting with the rear. I've ridden with a guy who has 24's on boththe front and rear of his King Quad. Since it would only cause a problem while in 4wd on a hard surface and he runs in 2wd while on hardpack, he doesn't have any problems.

According to my notes, the front diff ratio is 3.09. The rear is 3.647.

If the back tires are 25's and they turn 5.43 mph, the 22 inch fronts will turn 5.63 mph.

If the backs are 30 inches and turn 6.51 mph, 26 inch fronts will turn 6.66 mph.

Let me know if there are particular tires you want me to run thru spreadsheet. Its not hard to just change the numbers.

JB, that is not correct. I have the machine outside. It has original tires. I know the backs are 25's for sure. Also, I have the service manual. Also, rockymountain says 25's. http://www.rockymountainatv.com/vehicleFilter.do Maybe you're confusing some other quad?
