hey and welcome to the forum!

youve got an oil filter. its located under the 3 bolt cover on the engine sidecover opposite of the shaft.

you should DEFINATLEY get a clymer manual for it. they cover basic specs, maintenance, and even full rebuild info. everything you could ever need.

as far as oil goes, i have no idea. but that clymer manual will!

just go to google and type in "clymer lt185" its money well spent!

and probably even better then that would be the official suzuki factory service manual:

Official 1984-1987 Suzuki LT185 Factory Service Manual U99500-41050-01E LT185G Quadrunner

it should say how much oil it holds right next to where you put it in. probably 1500cc or something like that.

Awesome, Ill check that out when I pull it out, to look at the rear end (only the left wheel powers the machine, dont know if this is common or not)

well, its a one piece axle, so i GUESS thats all it could be. but i dont wanna jinx ya hahaha

good luck, and if it ate the splines in the hub hopefully it did it like my 250r did and the axle was fine i just needed a new hub. i think the axle steel is way harder than the hub's.
