I am not sure either but I usaualy build sleds and if a customer wants me to add electric start to a non elec start machine i just tap the lighting coil wire and use a polaris rectifier regulator combo off a older polaris util. quad. Then just run a wire from the rectifier to the battery..

thanks

the lighting coil int these quads wont take much abuse. after 20+ years the integrity of the coil degrades. i would tap into it unless you arent planning on running lights.
