Default 89-90 lt 250s

Hello I purchased an 89 LT 250 s quadsport for 100 bucks rear plastics were trash and it wouldn't kick. upon tearing down and inspection i have found the rod bearing to be the problem..so i am in search of a crankshaft assy. or someone here in the K.C. area who can press the crank and true it up and replace parts.. i will supply all parts... if you can help thanks .. i am asking for help because i have found it very hard to find parts for this bike... it is rare and that seems to be a problem.... i would also like to know if i can find a list of interchangable parts for this bike if maybe a diff crank assy would work... that would be the easiest fix i think but i am not so lucky in these things so i wont get hopes up about compatable parts..lol

There are many builders that only work on the LT250, and you have a very good year, Bartlett Racing knows tons of information on these LT250s.

If the rod bearing went bad, that means he probably ran low on oil cause the lt250s had a very tough crank. Check for other wear inside the engine when apart and give everything a good cleaning when the cases are apart. Also check to see if the oil pump is still good. The oil pump on one my lt250s engines was getting weaker so it caused some wear on the head, not alot at all, but just a little. There is a crank on ebay for $200 yikes for a used one. This guy will do the crank for you and he will do an amazing job. I have a crank from him for my lt230s and lots of people use him. He really knows his stuff. Also, look for cracks on the inside engine cases near the sprocket area, small cracks form when the chain hits the case. I believe the other guy was talking about the lt250r, not the lt250s cause most people don't even know the lt250s exists. There is no difference between the 89-90 lt250s, which was the only two years that they made the lt250s. Parts are sometimes hard to find, but if you're any good at using the internet, you will be fine finding parts.

You haven't toasted a rod bearing until you're digging stuff like this out of your engine! LOL

My idiot friend never changed the oil and beat the snot out of it. And the funny part... it stil runs. Pretty good actually! Until it snags up inside (a bit of metal in the gears I guess). Have to roll it backwards to unsnag it and it runs again lol

I ran fog lights.. plastics have been painted so I want to strip them and fix em... other than that it runs good lots of torche and speed.
