Default lt230 carb question

I picked an lt230, I believe its an 87. The only upgrade is has is a D&G pipe.
The bike was running very lean( back firing, popping once letting off the throttle). Last owner told me the jets were stock. I picked up some 117.5 and 21 or 22 jets to replace them with.
I know the recommended setting for the low speed and idle are roughly 2-2 1/2 turns out. It runs extremely lean/ very high idle at that.
I got it running pretty good except both screws are way beyond this point and on full choke it kills the motor making me think its on the rich side. Where should I go from here?

After running it, pull your plug(s) and check them. If they are burnt gray, then you're running lean. If they're black, your running rich. Try adjusting from there until the plug(s) stay as clean as possible indicating proper mixture burn.
