Swingarm

Swingarm
If anyone is familiar with 86 LT230s swingarm, what could I use to help with the "chain side" of the swingarm keep from stressing at the pivot point where the swingarm bearing goes? Seems the swingarm is offset and that side takes more stress I'd like to reinforce it somehow. Any ideas would be of help. One I thought of is maybe put a sleeve over top of it or something.

Hey man, calm down. People have other things to do. You could ream out the center and install 4 needle bearings instead of two. You could beef up the outside tube, but you would need to create a different chain guide. Here is an example of a chain guide I am using. It's from a banshee. Btw thats a westcoast swingarm, but it still is the same concept. You could also measure the inside diameter of the swingarm and get a bronze bushing or teflon bushing or a spherical bearing and install it to keep the swingarm shaft in the correct position. You can also add a gusset between the end of the tube and the swingarm. You will need to create a new chain guide but thats easy. Whatever you do, you need to install a grease zerk. Loctite your bearings. And drill holes in the center spacer so the swingarm shaft can be greased. All purchase inside oil seals for the bearings and use the outside seals too.

I made some enforcements out of 1/4" metal as you can see in the pics. You need a grease zerk and you really need to drill the holes and loctite the bearings. Loctite prevents the bearings from spinning. The holes will grease the shaft to prevent it from early wear. Regrease the grease zerk once a month to keep the bearings and everything from failing early.
