Default 2003 LT 80 no crank, no nothing!!

I've got this LT80 Quad Sport that has an electrical problem. New battery, good fuse, circuit breaker OK. Will not crank over. Grounds are good. Checking things out one by one, I find 12.86 VDC into red terminal to rectifier but nothing coming out on white/red lead. I'm assuming this indicates a bad rectifier, but want to be 100 percent sure before I order. Starter test fine when bypassing everything.

Thoughts?
Thanks!

Tom

Anyone out there have an opinion on this? I'd appreciate input as I'm stumped here.

Thanks...

I'm not good with the electronics but I'll try.
I'm thinking the rectifier has to do with the charging circiut. I could be wrong.
The push button has been known to go bad.

There is a problem with the term "will not crank over," to most of us this means won't turn over, in other words the starter won't work, but some mean "won't fire." The regulator has nothing to do with the starter, and little to do with the spark (depending on the age of your LT80). The parking brake has to be locked on before the starter will turn.

The ATV will NOT turn over when you hit the starter button. The starter is good; bypassing the wiring harness and going directly from the battery to the starter turns the starter over. Starter relay will not click when turning the key switch to ON, moving the KILL switch to RUN, and hitting the starter button. The relay is known good.

Does the starter relay have power into it when the ignition switch is on? Are there any safety switches/tether switches on it?If so have you tried any bypass? Just a couple thoughts..

All:

I've got 12VDC into the starter relay with the key switch in the ON position. I've tested the brake safety switch, OK. Starter relay is good. I'm going to repeat tests on the starter button. Circuit breaker tests OK. As stated, I've jumped directly to the starter and it functions. Guess it's down to each connection and to ohm out each wire in the harness. Battery is new, charged, and load tests fine. Key switch tests OK. Fuse holder new and fuse good.

Not sure where else to turn???

Sounds like all you have left to test out is the starter button itself.. Hope it's that simple.

Default Success !!!!

Thanks to advice here and old fashioned detective work, the problem has been solved!! A faulty starter switch (caked dirt and gunk). Cleaned with liberal amounts of CRC QD Electronic Spray and it works fine!

Thanks to all!!!
