LT80 clutch/crankshaft help needed
Hello,
Thanks for your help in advance. I am working on my son's LT80. I got this cheap and it ran but I knew it had a few issues. Compression was down to 50PSI in the cylinder but I limped it along for a few years but now he is getting bigger and it wont pull him up out of the ditches without bogging down and killing the engine. I got a new piston/cylinder kit. I bought some boyeson reed valves and decided to take the oil pump drive off the end of the crank and pre-mix 32:1 when I get the engine back together. Once I got the clutch cover off, I found that the rear clutch shoes were almost worn to nothing, then I decided to look at the front clutch. About half of the rollers were wedged in the wrong orientation and all of the rollers had flat spots on them, the movable face on the front clutch has a notch in it for the keyway on the crankshaft. However I noticed that the keyway on the crank is slightly mashed off to the side and also the notch in the movable face is slighlty mis-shaped from this keyway being slightly bent. The machine has a lot of hours on it, I plan on buying a whole new front clutch assembly. My question is what does this key way do for the movable face on the front clutch. Should I attempt to take out the key and replace it with a new one before I put the new clutch in.? Im new to posting on the forum but have read a lot from others on here. Thanks to them for posting. I will try to figure out how to post a picture if I can of what I am talking about.
